Thank you Ryan Dulde from Eagle Dental, Eagle Dental staff, the Eagle Business Association, the many sponsors, volunteers and all who participated in the Miles of Smiles 5K Run/Walk on Saturday August 26th. It was a fun family event with over 80 runners, walkers, lots of kids and moms and dads who made their way along the route. A DJ from Showtime Entertainment kept the festive spirit alive with great music. Balloon artist and magician, Don Vort, entertained the kids with a variety of balloons and magic tricks, and there was plenty of fresh smoked port, brats and other food available for those hungry afterward.
All proceeds from the event were donated to the Eagle Village Park Fund to replace old worn and damaged play equipment in the kid’s area of the park. Before the run, Ryan Dulde presented a check for $2,450 to a group of Eagle girl scouts who, months earlier, wrote letters to the Village asking for new play equipment because of the current playsets were damaged. An ad hoc committee was formed in June to help raise money to purchase new equipment estimated to cost between $60,000 – $80,000. Several businesses, organizations and individuals from the Eagle area have already made donations to the Park Fund. The money from Smiles for Miles brings the amount raised to over $10,000!
